The origin of the dirtybenny moniker

 


As those of you who know me in real life, my given name is not Benjamin, Benny, or Ben.  I specifically don't renounce the "dirty" characterization in any way, though. 

The only Benny I have ever known is Benny the Ball from Top Cat.



The moniker does not refer to an obscene act or a plate of eggs.





It is, in fact, a tribute to my paternal grandfather.  When we were children, my grandfather did not curse.  Instead of saying "that no good son of a bitch", he would say, "that no good dirtybenny."  

Years later as I relived my time as a child with my grandparents, I remembered that term and fondly, I rekindle it each day through this blog. 

I also find it revealing the that the abbreviation, db, that I use as a sigil  is a reflection of itself, a palindrome. I think  this indicates my Gemini sun sign.

Happy Birthday to Me.

There is something about astrology and personality types that is telling. So many of the people in this facet of the internet are Geminis. Off the top of my head... Ab Frank the Salt Guy Velocet Casimir Napoleon Wilson Jeff Not Shocked Farcevalue, if my memory serves me correctly.  Perhaps there are more that I am missing.  I do think that our personality types are coded into our incarnation based on the position of the stars. We are all given a personality template.
