What If There Is No You? The Neuroscience Of The Self Beyond Theory

 Fascinating review of the self.  The concept of who are we when we are in non-dreaming sleep has consumed me over the past several days.  This has made me reconsider whether we truly exist outside of this realm.  Dreams were always evidence for my non-physical self, but consideration of non-dreaming sleep has pushed me to modify my model.

    This is interesting. We are not the mental model. The problem with a completely materialistic, scientific approach, is that some options are not considered. There is no room for 'the self' being 'the soul' that animates the matter, for example. The body could be like a receiver, eg like that in a remote control car.

    Or the idea that the appearance of reality being just the limited expression or rendering that we are capable of creating given our sense organs. The underlying might contain further attributes we have no means of registering.

      Without knowing the context of the experience, it's not possible to call this 'good' or 'bad'. Maybe it's different things for different people. This is why the only way to make sense of the thing is introspectively, alone, imo.

      Attachment is a vital part of existing in this place. Trying to detach is akin to saying to try and get rid of one's lungs.

      I will not give of myself to this place. I think it is one of the reasons, I no longer do art or play musical instruments. I do the blog to share my views with other sufferers. I do my daily journalling to share my views with myself. I would prefer to extinguish my existence for eternity than to capitulate to this place. My mind control has been broken. There is something about astrology and personality types that is telling. So many of the people in this facet of the internet are Geminis. Off the top of my head... Ab Frank the Salt Guy Velocet Casimir Napoleon Wilson Jeff Not Shocked Farcevalue, if my memory serves me correctly.  Perhaps there are more that I am missing.  I do think that our personality types are coded into our incarnation based on the position of the stars. We are all given a personality template.
