2. Science & Astronomy (Planetary Engineering)

As a verb (and a hypothetical scientific concept), terraform means to alter the environment, atmosphere, or ecology of a planet or moon to make it capable of supporting human life. [1, 2]

• Origins: The term was coined in 1942 by science-fiction writer Jack Williamson.
• Real-World Application: While largely a theoretical concept heavily featured in science fiction, it remains a subject of serious scientific discussion regarding the potential habitability of celestial bodies like Mars. [1, 2, 3]
