Paul Simon at age 84....must perform
There is no way that these entities are performing by choice. Then when you hear how Simon supposedly has near complete hearing loss, back pain, etc....it just doesn't make sense in a traditional framework. And they must campaign for medical research ( raising awareness for hearing loss research), similar to Olivia Newton-John and breast cancer....always harvesting manKIND.
Paul Simon has been suffering from near-total hearing loss, leaving him with only about 6% hearing in his left ear. This condition originally developed while he was working on his 2023 album Seven Psalms and required him to significantly alter his music and touring setups.
He has also dealt with chronic and intense back issues. Specifics on his health challenges and adjustments include:
- Severe Hearing Loss: Simon’s hearing in his left ear dropped to about 6%. The condition initially made him very frustrated and angry, fearing it would end his career.
- Repertoire Adjustments: To adapt, Simon has transformed his live shows. He now relies on intimate, acoustic arrangements and quieter music, and has had to retire upbeat classics like "You Can Call Me Al".
- Stanford Collaboration: He collaborated with the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss to adapt his stage setup, employing hearing aids and strategically placed speakers to help him hear his own performances.
- Spine Issues: In addition to his hearing, Simon has struggled with severe back pain, which occasionally forced him to postpone or cancel tour dates.
Despite these obstacles, he found new ways to perform, playing shows on his "A Quiet Celebration Tour" while raising awareness for hearing loss research.
