In January 2023, Apple quietly filed a patent for AirPods embedded with EEG electrodes designed to read the electrical activity of your brain

, continuously, wirelessly, and transmitted to a server accessible by third parties.

This is a filed, funded, actively developed patent from a company whose products are 

already in 62% of Gen Z ears.

EEG data is not background noise. It captures your mental states, your stress levels, your emotional 

responses, your focus, your sleep, and the same signals used in polygraph tests to determine whether someone is lying.@ChelleWards

report that 29 out of 30 consumer neurotechnology companies already claim unlimited rights to their 

users' neural data, most share it with third parties, and there is no federal law governing how any of it can be used or sold.

There is also the hardware problem that exists before we even get to the data. A 2025 Yale study 

found that RF radiation at levels comparable to Bluetooth earbuds disrupted brain cell development 

and increased expression of genes associated with autism.

A separate study found that when Bluetooth earbud magnetic fields combine with airborne pollution 

particles, the result is accelerated accumulation of neurotoxic nanoparticles in the brain. 

Now add continuous active biosensing electrodes on top of that.

Our thoughts are the last thing that are truly ours. There is currently no law guaranteeing they will 

stay that way.
