ID required to buy Bic candle lighters at Target

 

I have been using one of these plasma arc lighters to light my nightly candles.  Unfortunately, I have been shocked by them twice in the past week.  I thought I would revert back to the Bic  lighters pictured above.  I went in to Target and as soon as I scanned this, the screen started taking my video and said monitoring in progress.  The sale was stopped until an associate came over.  He said that he needed my ID. I said for what?  He said that the sale could not be completed without my ID.  I said, forget it and walked out without making the purchase.
