My Funny Valentine Chet Baker

In the evening, I often listen to jazz while sipping calvados.  Chet Baker is one of the many jazz artists that my Dad introduced me to.  My Dad played jazz trumpet.

As most of us elderly, we have so many colorful stories.  With my Dad and uncles, even though I had heard the story 20 times or more, I still greatly enjoyed their stories,  waiting for the delivery and the style as if I had never heard the story before.

When Chet Baker came up, he always told the story about how upset Frank Sinatra was when DownBeat (Jazz magazine) voted Chet Baker male singer of the year.

It was like playing one of your favorite records, the way he told a story.

...something that I cherished and enjoyed when my Dad was still here.
