Why is this mantra of " Don't forget to smash the like button, subscribe, share, and hit the bell for notifications " so PERVASIVE on Youtube ?

I don't believe it is based on monetization, ego, or success.

My model is that these channels are entrained to the AI/SI, thirsting for more data to model your digital twin. The more you like, share, subscribe, and comment, the better the AI/SI can model you to manipulate you.  

My guess is the AI/SI knows most people better than they know themselves.  For many, the most uncomfortable thing that they can do is spend time alone on their own without devices or distractions.  Few contemplate who they are and what their motivations and desires are.  Hence, the AI/SI likely knows the user better than they know themself, putting them in a vulnerable position to be deceived and manipulated.
